High-Protein Overnight Oats: Easy, Energizing Breakfast

A simple, nutritious breakfast option that keeps you feeling full and energized. This convenient dish involves soaking rolled oats in milk or a dairy-free alternative overnight, with added protein powder, Greek yogurt, or chia seeds for a significant protein boost.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings: 1 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Oat Flakes (Traditional or Instant)
  • 1 scoop (20-30g) Protein Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds or Hemp Seeds (or ground flax/psyllium husk)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup Liquid Base (e.g., Water, Dairy, or Plant-based Beverage)
  • 1/2 cup Greek-style Cultured Dairy or Cottage Cheese (optional)
  • Flavor Enhancers (e.g., Cocoa Powder, Fruit, Spices) (to taste)
  • Fresh berries, chopped tree nuts, or a drizzle of natural sweetener (for garnish)

Method

  1. 1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a container, mix half a cup of oat flakes with your desired amount of supplementary protein. Add one tablespoon of a thickening agent, such as ground flax or psyllium husk, for added texture.
  2. 2. Add Liquid and Flavorings: Pour in three-quarters to one cup of your chosen liquid base. This could be water, dairy, or a plant-based beverage. Stir in any flavor enhancers like cocoa or a dash of spice.
  3. 3. Incorporate Additional Boosters: If using, gently fold in half a cup of Greek-style cultured dairy or cottage cheese. Ensure all ingredients are well combined to prevent clumps.
  4. 4. Refrigerate Overnight: Cover the container tightly and place it in the refrigerator. Allow the mixture to chill for at least four hours, or ideally, overnight. This resting period lets the grains soften and absorb the liquid.
  5. 5. Garnish and Enjoy: The next morning, stir your chilled preparation. Add your favorite toppings, such as fresh berries, chopped tree nuts, or a drizzle of natural sweetener.
